Future Fit Training has joined forces with Fit for Sport – UK experts in educating and engaging children and young people through physical activity – to offer an exclusive Children’s Fitness Qualification – the first of its kind to include a nutritional module as a standard. A leading provider of quality assured fitness courses in Personal Training, Pilates and Nutrition, the course from Future Fit has been established in response to rising childhood obesity levels across the country.

A recent government report found that nearly a third of children aged 2-15 are overweight or obese, highlighting the importance of tackling this issue. The new Level 2 Children’s Fitness Qualification offers the opportunity to gain the knowledge and skills required to plan, prepare and deliver a safe, effective, fun and engaging activity session for children aged 5-11 years.

There are no pre-requisite qualifications needed to sign up for this course. Backed by CIMSPA, the course is divided across eight weeks with two practical days included alongside a final assessment.

The partnership will see Future Fit Training providing the e-learning modules while Fit for Sport will run the practical elements.

Eamonn Ellis, Head of Training at Fit for Sport said, “The qualification is an all-inclusive programme of learning, support and resource designed to improve child health and wellbeing across the board. Fit for Sport is passionate about improving the health of the nation and training all professionals who work with children to a higher standard is key to achieving this goal.”

The government recommends that children should participate in at least 60 minutes of physical activity each day, with half of that time supported by parents and carers outside of school. As a result, there is a huge opportunity for more people to attain a high-quality qualification to work directly with children. Ollie Bell, Head of Commercial Development at Future Fit Training said, “With this qualification, we want to supersede anything else that is out in the industry and provide high-quality courses. By upskilling individuals to confidently work with children, we know that we can grow their amount of physical activity.”
